Introduction

Geb - The Rock of Gibraltar

When anyone first begins playing SMITE their impressions on how good certain gods are is solely based on how your opponents have played them and not what their potential could be. For example, I thought Susano was trash but after being bent over and spanked hundreds of times since the Avatar update, I will no longer disrespect my man Susan.

I've never enjoyed playing overpowered gods, so I usually am always trying to master these lower-tier characters. When I first really got interested in the game, me and all my friends thought Geb was trash, so of course I had to get good with him.

After spending a lot of time with the bowling ball himself, I realized how useful he actually is. Once I was comfortable playing him I started creating "Fun" builds to just go mess around and have non-serious games. This is when I accidentally RELEASED THE BEAST.

This is a joke build and also my first guide ever, if an actual support build is what you want, just switch to that above :)

Items

Cooldown is the name of the game with this build, that is why within the first three items I decided to max it out. This build revolves around the passive on Staff of Myrddin, but it never has to be kept up with due to its low cooldown on the passive. These items are not a regular on Geb; therefore, you're also not able to play him regularly. There are enough protections to be a little tanky with this build, but if you want more power definitely drop one of the last three and go a straight damage item like Soul Reaver or Rod of Tahuti.

Fighting Technique

The way to use this build is to run and gun. You won't be as tanky as a regular Geb, but you will be doing plenty of damage.

Here is the game plan:

  • Roll Out into the other team and try to have them as grouped up as possible (you don't want to knock them away, so don't hit them while at top-speed of Roll Out
  • Use Cataclysm to do true damage and stun them
  • After your ultimate get as close as you can to your enemy of choice and use Shock Wave twice thanks to Staff of Myrddin.

Pros / Cons

PROS

  • High damage
  • Loads of CC
  • Low Cooldown
  • Great against AA assassins

CONS
  • Early Game
  • Fewer Protections than normal
  • No health built-in

Advice

Early Game:

You will need to be very careful early on because Geb isn't scary enough yet to discourage others from going all-in on you, also your clear will be terrible for a while so don't let minions keep agro on you.

Unconventional Fighting:

Geb is a very large god, so use this to your advantage by body-blocking enemies to keep them where you want them.

Summary

This build is a blast and nobody ever sees it coming when Geb does over 1000 damage out of nowhere. I've finished many games with top damage, top kills, and fewest deaths as Rock of Gibraltar Geb. However, this isn't a serious build and shouldn't be used in ranked. GLHF!

Fixing the "meme" build:

Shoes of Focus > Stone of Binding > Pridwen > Sovereignty > Void Stone > Staff of Myrddin. If you somehow have enough gold, then sell boots for speed pot and Ethereal or Magus.

Relics will be Blink and Shell or Blink and Frenzy.

How good is Staff of Myrddin as a late game / boots replacement item for supports? I've considered it before due to the CC still effecting targets the same for each hit, unlike damage and heals are affected but I've never tested or opted for building it.

Varies on the support. On Geb it’s good cause after you initiate with his ult you can double knockup.

Ignoring the meme build, which serves little purpose in being useful (especially in its current build order), your main build has a few issues.

1. Start doesen't contain HoG. It is the meta right now to have Hand of the Gods especially since the mid season camps got tankier, including purple buff. Without it, you risk the chance of being outcleared and hitting level 2 later than the enemy duo. The start should be Guardian's Blessing, Shoes, 4 Healing Potions, Hand of the Gods.

2. Boots should be built before thebes.

3. You list Breastplate as an option when Pridwen is in the build. You should never be building Breastplate and Pridwen in the same build.

4. Tyrannical Plate Helm doesen't really make sense on Geb Support, his waveclear is kind of eh, and usually it isn't you that is pushing waves.

5. Binding is good, and so is Pridwen, but they're not core (especially Pridwen).

6. No mention of boots replacement.

7. Can add a lot more situational / counterbuild options for a Support build (e.g. Relic Dagger, Sovereignty, Myrddin, Ethereal etc...)

Thanks for the advice, probably gonna update soon. I didn't think people would want a super in-depth guide since the main point of my posting was to bring a "more fun and laid-back" side of SMITE that a lot of people forget about when they get deep into the game. I was leaving that second build mostly up to interpretation for players that had more knowldge of the game, but yeah I definitely agree on the starting points you made!

I have thought a time or two of trying Geb out in arena, since I don't play other modes...this looks like something I might like to try there if i give him a shot.

The build is super fun in Arena, definitely give it a try!

It can work in Arena. Do the Taco thing and try to get top damage. Blink into the midst of a full health enemy team, then with the help of Myrddin, hit your 2 twice before thinking about getting the hell out of there.

Granted, I probably wouldn't build quite like that or in that order, especially in Arena. I'd probably go for Stone of Binding 2nd, Spear of Desolation 3rd, Staff of Myrddin 4th, Soul Reaver 5th, and a flex pick 6th. I wouldn't consider Tyrannical in Arena at all.

Geb and the rock of gibraltar literally have no correlation to each other.

Explained well in the body, with what seems to be reasonable knowledge of the God and items. I'm okay with this as a meme build

Thank you! It was the first guide I've ever made, so I just wanted it to be very simple and fun.

I don't quite understand the Rock of Gibraltar build.

Titanium__2214 | August 13, 2020 6:25pm
What questions do you have specifically? The build is mostly a joke/meme build to do significant damage with a guardian that doesn't see much play in lower rankings. A more serious build that is effective in conquest can be selected in the dropdown menu next to Purchase Order.
1
boogiebass (46) | August 14, 2020 4:29pm
No I get that, but I mean if you wanted to do significant damage, there are other items you can pick. Particularly replacing Pridwen and Sovereignty. Maybe don't get % penetration with % penetration reduction.
